The first date should always be in public for both you and your potential partner's safety. Choose a spot that's not too packed and busy though. This way the date gets more personal and less distracting. It shouldn't be long either. The goal is to find out if they are who they say they are and see if there is enough chemistry for a 2nd date. Don't take it too seriously.
Coffee: The person is a stranger, assuming you two don't know each other that well. This is a good way to break the ice. Not too much commitment, and both of you have an easy out if things go bad. Plus, he/she can't ask for another option cause everyone likes coffee, right? Like I said, the other person is a stranger. If they don't appreciate coffee for a FIRST date and expect more, that's unreasonable.
Bubble Tea: All the similarities to a coffee date, but I really love bubble tea. Most people really love bubble tea. So how is this better than a coffee date you ask? Well if the date is going trash, at least you're enjoying yourself and having a good time sipping on sweet bobba!
Run: If the two of you are both into running, go for a jog for your first date. This removes the pressure of looking pretty and fancy and both of you will look natural, if not before then definitely after the run when y'all are all sweaty. Again....if the date goes bad, you at least got a good cardio session in
Mini golf: Just a simple fun activity. Y'all can laugh at each other if you're bad
Bowling: Similar logic to mini golf. Bonus points if you're actually good.
Escape room: This is a good activity cause it makes conversation flow easily, i mean you have to communicate to get through and complete it. But its also great because it will show you how you two will solve problems together, which is one of the hallmarks of a healthy romantic relationship. Wise words from temitayo (that's just me though).
Live Music: Usually happens at a bar, so you can sit down, get comfortable, and enjoy a show while talking over some drinks.
8 Ball Pool: My personal favourite. I am an expert at pool. This is in my opinion the perfect date idea, but...ONLY IF YOU'RE GOOD AT POOL!! Don't resort to this if you're not really good. In that case, get better. Best place for this is at a bar again, and when you're done with pool its an easy transition to drinks and talking. Whats even better is if you combine pool, drinks, and live music all in one (one of my best first dates btw).
Museum: If you two can't hold a steady interesting conversation at a museum, with so many things to comment on and look at, then you two will be bored out of your minds when you're alone in a room or any other setting together, so this is a good place to see if you too have chemistry. Also
